Two Winemaker Dinners in March
In March we are getting two highly esteemed guests to present their wines and wineries. On Monday March 9th we have the privilege to host a Winemaker Dinner for Telmo Rodriguez, the chief winemaker of Remelluri in Rioja. Two weeks later, Monday March 23rd we’re very pleased to receive our dear friend Joan Cusiné to introduce some his wines from Parés Baltà in Penèdes and Gratavinum in Priorat.
Telmo Rodriguez made his name as a flying winemaker making wines in different regions across Spain, until returning to his family winery of Remelluri. In addition to their reds, they are also known for a white wine of limited production, Remelluri Blanco, which is considered to be one of the best white wines in Spain. The winery has been certified organic since 2010.
Parés Baltà has a long history reaching to 1790, but it wasn’t until 1978 when the Cusiné family took over the historic winery. In 2000 the winery was passed on to two brothers, Joan and Josep, who soon left the winemaking to their wives Maria Elena and Marta. Starting 2010 they started incorporating biodynamic practices to their longtime regime of organic viticulture.
